INDIANAPOLIS — Police are investigating a fatal crash that happened on the northwest side of Indianapolis Sunday afternoon.
According to the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department, officers were called to the intersection of West 51st Street and North Michigan Road around 12:35 p.m. on a report of a personal injury crash. When police arrived at the scene, they confirmed two vehicles were involved in a crash.
Upon further investigation, officers determined a vehicle travelling northbound was attempting to make a westbound turn when it was struck by a car that was moving southbound.
After the crash, the drivers of both cars were taken to a local hospital. A juvenile passenger was also transported to a local hospital in stable condition.
One of the passengers in the cars, however, did not survive the crash and was pronounced dead at the scene.
IMPD's crash investigators are still examining the incident. As of this article's publication, no additional information on the crash had been made available.
