According to law enforcement, officers were dispatched to 18th and Madison Streets on a report of a serious vehicle accident that occurred on Oct. 8 at approximately 11:46 a.m. Officers learned that while in pursuit to the scene, two juveniles ran from the car.

Witnesses on scene said that the juvenile was driving extremely fast through red lights and caused a crash which led to the death of another driver.

When running the plates on the car that the juvenile was in, the vehicle was found to be registered to a Muncie woman. When police did an investigation of the woman's home, they discovered that she had been battered.

The victim told police that the juvenile, his dad, and an additional family member were staying with her for a few weeks. She reportedly told the juvenile that the home was a mess. When she began to clean the house, he started brutally attacking her. The female victim had a punctured lung, several broken ribs, a fractured sternum, facial trauma, scratches, and several marks, according to police.

The 14-year-old male was transported to the Delaware County Juvenile Detention Center.
