BLOOMINGTON, Ind. — A majority of the felony charges filed earlier this year against an Indiana University student accused of rape have been dismissed by a Monroe County judge.
Noah Apgar, a 20-year-old Greenwood resident and IU student, was arrested last month and charged with strangulation, confinement and five counts of felony rape. While six of the seven charges against Apgar have since been dismissed, one felony rape charge remains.

Apgar was banned from IU Bloomington's campus and charged with the felonies on Sept. 17 after two women came forward with accusations of sexual assault and rape.
The alleged rapes reportedly occurred on campus, with one of them taking place in early September at his Sigma Alpha Epsilon fraternity house.
At the time of his arrest, the IU Police Department said that both witness testimony and security video footage linked Apgar to the two alleged sexual assaults.
Judge Valeri Haughton of Monroe County dismissed six of the seven charges filed against Apgar on Oct. 2. Online court records show the charges were "dismissed without prejudice."
The motion to dismiss filing says the State is "unable to meet its burden of proof" in proving these crimes related to one of the two reported assaults.
Apgar still faces one count of rape - a level 3 felony - in relation to the second reported assault. A pretrial in his case is scheduled to begin at 1:30 p.m. on Nov. 25 in Monroe Circuit Court 2.
