INDIANAPOLIS -- Imagine you're enjoying a relaxing night in front of the TV, but someone else is outside your house – watching you at the same time.
This creepy scenario has some northside neighbors on edge, and the police on the lookout.
“I didn't know about the peeping tom until a couple days after he came by when my neighbor notified me that the light bulb was unscrewed,” said Dogwood Glen resident Russell McLaurin.
McLaurin has lived in the apartment complex for four years with no issues. Along with the tampering of his front porch light, he discovered on May 6 that the light fixture along the pathway had wires cut as well.
“I right away checked my security footage,” he said. "Here's my wife taking out the trash here at 11:29 p.m., and here we first see the guy at 11:33 p.m.”
In the surveillance footage, a man can be seen in the bushes, peering into Mclaurin's apartment and his neighbors while touching himself inappropriately for several hours on May 1.
“Some of my other neighbors have mentioned concerns about this man coming back because he did come back a second night after the first night,” he added.
The suspect was almost caught in the early hours of May 2 when McLaurin's wife went too close the window while he was outside.
Now, people are keeping an eye out for his potential return.
“The apartment complex has been great working with me,” he said. “They did distribute flyers amongst the residents to let them know of the incident and make sure they're aware that this man is not welcome in our apartment complex."
McLaurin encourages people to have their notifications on for their security cameras if this is a serial offender.
His footage was also given to police when he filed a report.
IMPD is following leads and actively investigating. They hope to make an arrest in this case soon.
