INDIANAPOLIS – A woman was injured in a shooting early Wednesday morning on the east side of Indianapolis.
According to Indianapolis Metropolitan police, officers responded to a reported shooting around 2:20 a.m. at 38th Street and Hawthorne Lane.
Police eventually found the victim and her vehicle at 3713 Layman Avenue. She was taken to IU Health Methodist Hospital after suffering a gunshot wound. Police didn’t disclose the severity of her injuries.
IMPD said they had a woman in custody who’s considered a “person of interest” in the case. The person driving the victim’s car took off from the scene, police said.
Later, on Wednesday afternoon, police announced the arrest of 39-year-old Kelly Lane for her alleged role in this shooting.
The people involved in the incident were “not forthcoming” with information about what happened, according to police. The circumstances surrounding the shooting remain under investigation.
