IMPD: Man shot, killed on Indy's west side

INDIANAPOLIS — Police are investigating after a man was found shot and killed Saturday morning on Indy's west side.

According to the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department, just after 2:30 a.m., officers were called to the 5500 block of Scarlet Drive on the report of a loud party. When police arrived at the scene, they were flagged down by a person who claimed a male had been shot.

After further investigation, officers located an adult male lying outside a garage with injuries consistent with gunshot wounds. The man was pronounced dead at the scene.

The Marion County Coroner's Office will help IMPD determine the man's exact manner and cause of death. MCCO will release the decedent's name once his family has been properly notified of his death.
