BEDFORD, Ind. -- A man was pronounced dead after a shooting in Bedford on Monday evening, according to the Bedford Police Department.
At around 6 p.m. on Monday, the department received a 911 call regarding a shooting at a home in the 700 block of I Street. When officers arrived, a news release from the department said they located 27-year-old William Boggs in a bathroom with an apparent gunshot wound. Boggs was later pronounced dead at the scene.
The release said that witnesses reportedly led police to identify 34-year-old Adam Machida, a Bedford man, as the suspect in the shooting. A vehicle matching the description of Machida's was later spotted traveling east on U.S. 50 by a detective with the Indiana State Police.
The detective, with the assistance of the Brownstown Police Department, conducted a traffic stop on the vehicle and the driver was later identified as Machida. The release said that Machida was then taken into custody.
Officials said that a weapon was reportedly located inside Machida's vehicle that was believed to have been used in the shooting.
