Whitestown police investigating shooting; Suspects detained

Update (Sept. 30)

According to an update from the Whitestown Metropolitan Police Department, officers said they arrested two individuals in relation to Sunday evening's shooting.

During an initial investigation, officers determined there was a verbal altercation in an apartment complex which led to two people pulling handguns and firing shots at an apartment in the complex. One of the firearms reportedly used in the shooting was located by police.

The update said that 20-year-old Cristopher Croley, a Whitestown resident, was identified as one of the suspect and was arrested on the following preliminary charges:

  • One count of intimidation with a deadly weapon, a Level 5 felony
  • One count of criminal recklessness with a deadly weapon, a Level 6 felony
  • One count of pointing a firearm, a Level 6 felony.

The other suspect was reportedly a juvenile, who was also arrested on the same preliminary charges. The juvenile is currently being held at the Delaware County Juvenile Detention Center while Croley is being held at the Boone County Jail.

WHITESTOWN, Ind. — The Whitestown Metropolitan Police Department is investigating a shooting that happened on Sunday evening.

A WMPD spokesperson reported that officers were called to the Meadows on main subdivision on a report of shots fired. Police confirmed nobody was injured during the shooting.

WMPD detained multiple suspects during its investigation — though the agency hasn't specified exactly how many individuals were taken into custody.

Whitestown police indicated that they will release additional information on the shooting Monday morning. WMPD reported that the incident does not pose an ongoing threat to the community.
