Traffic stop leads to pursuit, crash on northwest side

INDIANAPOLIS — Police are investigating after a traffic stop turned into to a high speed chase, and a crash that injured three people on Indy's northwest side.

According to the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department, around 1:45 Saturday morning, officers tried to stop a car that was driving erratically, but the driver took off.

Officers chased the car until the driver lost control, and crashed into two cars at the intersection of Pike Plaza and Lafayette Road. Police say one of the cars hit was stopped at a red light.

An adult male, and a teenage girl in the suspect car were both taken to a local hospital in stable condition.

One victim in one of the cars hit was also sent to the hospital in stable condition.

Since the crash, we've learned the man and girl were in a stolen car. The male driver will undergo a blood draw.

Police say they found drugs and alcohol in the car, and officers believe the suspect was under the influence.

The incident remains under investigation.
