2 hospitalized after serious car crash in Columbus

COLUMBUS, Ind. — Two drivers are recovering in the hospital after a serious four-vehicle crash in Columbus, including a 96-year-old man who was flown to an Indy hospital for treatment.

Columbus Police crews were called around 12:55 p.m. Thursday to the intersection of 25th Street and Franklin Street for a crash involving four cars and a motorcycle. Upon arrival, they found several drivers had been injured in the wreck.

Police said that a 96-year-old man who was driving a beige Toyota van was flown to an Indianapolis hospital for treatment of his injuries. No condition was provided for him.

CPD said that a 38-year-old woman driving a white Nissan van was taken to Columbus Regional Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. Additionally, the driver of a silver Honda passenger car had "minor injuries" but was not taken to a hospital by EMS.

Crews said that the fourth vehicle involved was a motorcycle parked in a nearby yard that was struck by the white van.

CPD said that crash scene investigators have been called to the scene. No other information was immediately provided.
