INDIANAPOLIS — A crime lab scientist was arrested after reported child exploitation and possession of child pornography.
Kevin Riley, of Indianapolis, was charged with the following:
- Child Exploitation, a Level 5 Felony
- Possession of Child Pornography, a Level 5 Felony
- Possession of Child Pornography, Level 6 Felony
Detectives from the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department and the Indiana ICAC Task Force received multiple tips from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children in June. This alerted authorities that the suspect may have uploaded nine files of child pornography to the platform Kik.
On June 27 another tip was received which found extremely graphic text that will remain redacted from this article. In this text, police found that Riley was posing as a woman named "Annie Bawdie." He would reportedly exchange sexually explicit content of him and his wife for child porn that showed kids under less than 12. Some of the files are reported to be Artificial Intelligence.
Further into the investigation, officers traced the IP address connected with the online accounts associated with child porn. They were able to trace it back to Riley's home address, cell phone, and e-mail. On Sept. 12, officers issued a search warrant for the 6500 block of Shamel Drive on the northwest side of Indianapolis.
When questioned by authorities, police said that he "acted" like he had never heard of the platform where he was allegedly sharing child pornography on.
Due to Riley reportedly pretending to be a woman, his wife was also questioned but later released.
