INDIANAPOLIS — Police are investigating after a man was killed in a hit-and-run crash on Indy's east side Saturday morning.

According to the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department, just before 4 a.m., officers were called to the 6100 block of East 34th Street on the report of a no information accident.

When officers arrived, they located an adult male in the grass off the side of the road. He was pronounced deceased at the scene, according to police.

Police said the adult male was believed to have been riding a scooter eastbound on East 34th Street when he was hit by a black sedan that crossed the center line.

Witnesses told police the male driver of the sedan attempted to leave the scene on foot. Officers were quickly able to detain the male without issue. He was later arrested on an outstanding warrant.

The alleged driver was transported to an area hospital for blood draw, which is standard procedure in a deadly crash.

Anyone with information is asked to contact IMPD at (317) 327-3475 or Crime Stoppers of Central Indiana at (317) 262-8477.

This is a developing story. It will be updated when new information has been made available.
