INDIANAPOLIS -- A Pike High School teacher is one the finalists for the 2025 Indiana Teacher of the Year award.

According to a news release from the Indiana Department of Education, Graciela Miranda, an English language learning teacher in the Metropolitan School District of Pike Township, is one of three finalists for the award.

Miranda joins Chet Dixon, an alternative school teacher at Mooresville High School, and Ellie Minogue, a fourth and fifth grade teacher at Klondike Elementary School in West Lafayette, as the department's three nominees.

“Teachers make a difference in the lives of our students each and every day,” Katie Jenner, the state's secretary of education, said in the release. “The Indiana Teacher of the Year process gives us another opportunity to elevate the educator profession and celebrate their incredible impact. Among 65,000 educators in the state, what an accomplishment it is to be a top three finalist for Indiana Teacher of the Year!”

Officials said the 2025 Indiana Teacher of the Year will be announced in late September. The release said the winner will "work to help elevate the teaching profession in Indiana, as well as represent Hoosier teachers at the national level."
