IMPD: 3 teens arrested after traffic stop uncovers drugs, weapons on northeast side of Indianapolis

INDIANAPOLIS -- Three teens were arrested on Friday after they were found in possession of drugs and weapons during a traffic stop on the northeast side of Indianapolis.

According to a social media post from the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department, officers with the department's north district, as well as the department's violence reduction team, conducted a traffic stop in the area of E. 46th Street and Shadeland Avenue on Friday after a reported traffic infraction.

As officers approached the vehicle, the post read that officers smelled marijuana coming from the car. Officers searched the car and reportedly located three firearms, including one that was equipped with a machine gun conversion device. Officers also reportedly found drug paraphernalia and other narcotics inside the vehicle.

The post read that 18-year-old Keylon Andrews was arrested for possession of marijuana. Two other teens were also arrested, but were not identified by the department. One teen was arrested for possession of narcotics, dangerous possession of a firearm and possession of marijuana. The other teen was arrested for possession of a machine gun, dangerous possession of a firearm and possession of marijuana.

Officials said that the Marion County Prosecutor's Office will make the final charging decisions in this case.
