INDIANAPOLIS – The inevitable tweaking of the Indianapolis Colts’ regular-season roster has begun.
The team was awarded cornerback Samuel Womack III off waivers from San Francisco Wednesday, and signed 11 players to its practice squad. To make room for Womack, the Colts waived cornerback Darrell Baker Jr.
Womack was a 2022 fifth-round pick of San Francisco who appeared in 23 games with one start. The 5-10, 189-pounder out of Toledo is considered a nickel corner who offers help on special teams.
Signed to the practice squad: QB Jason Bean, wide receivers Laquon Treadwell and D.J. Montgomery, linebackers Austin Ajiake and Liam Anderson, running back Evan Hull, defensive end Genard Avery, safety Marcel Dabo and cornerbacks Jaylin Simpson, Ameer Speed and Chris Lammons.
Bean enjoyed a solid preseason and joins Anthony Richardson, Joe Flacco and Sam Ehlinger in the quarterbacks room
The Kansas product completed 15-of-19 passes (78.9%) for 197 yards with one touchdown and one interception. They also rushed 11 times for 53 yards and two TDs.
