HENDRICKS COUNTY, Ind. -- Two people were killed and one other was critically injured following a serious crash involving two vehicles Wednesday morning in Hendricks County.
Deputies with the Hendricks County Sheriff's Office were dispatched around 7:35 a.m. to the intersection of South County Road 0 and County Road 900 S, just north of Hazelwood.
HCSO said deputies arrived and found a black Chevrolet Traverse and a black GMC Sierra Pickup that were left with "severe" damage following a collision involving the two vehicles.
The Chevrolet Traverse had four adults inside it at the time of the crash while the GMC Sierra Pickup contained one adult and two children. Two of the four passengers inside the Chevrolet Traverse were pronounced dead at the scene while another occupant was brought to an area hospital via St. Vincent StatFlight for medical treatment in "critical" condition, HCSO said.
The driver of the Chevrolet Traverse and the driver of the GMC pickup, in addition to the two children, were transported to area hospitals in stable condition.
HCSO said preliminary information indicates the Chevrolet Traverse was driving eastbound on County Road 900 S. when it allegedly failed to observe a stop sign at South County Road 0. It was at this moment that the Traverse reportedly collided with the GMC pickup, which had been traveling northbound on South County Road 0.
The HCSO's Crash Reconstructionist Team is continuing to investigate the circumstances that led to the deadly crash as toxicology results are currently pending.
