INDIANAPOLIS -- Starting in March, Hoosiers will be able to fly from Indianapolis to the country music capital of the world on a nonstop flight.
According to a news release from the Indianapolis International Airport, the airport will have a daily nonstop flight from Indianapolis to Nashville on Southwest Airlines starting on March 6, 2025.
“We’ve been pursuing this nonstop flight with Southwest for over seven years,” Mario Rodriguez, the executive director of the Indianapolis Airport Authority, said in the release. “And it will launch just in time for the Spring Break travel season — and operate year-round.”
The authority said that members of Indy's corporate, tourism and economic development communities convinced Southwest to add the nonstop flight to Nashville, stating that many were traveling by car because it was quicker than a connecting flight.
“This flight will connect business and leisure travelers to the Music City and serve as a conduit for passengers connecting on other flights through Southwest’s Nashville focus city,” Maggie Cunningham, the authority's director of air service development, said in the release.
Southwest currently has nonstop flights from Indianapolis to the following locations:
- Atlanta
- Austin
- Baltimore
- Cancun
- Dallas - Love Field
- Denver
- Panama City
- Ft. Lauderdale
- Houston - Hobby Airport
- Las Vegas
- Kansas City
- Orlando
- Miami
- Phoenix
- Ft. Myers
- San Diego
