RIPLEY COUNTY, Ind. -- Officials with the Indiana State Police announced on Monday that a Ripley County man has been charged with rape and incest after an investigation reportedly uncovered multiple incidents at a location in Christian County, Kentucky.
According to a news release, 42-year-old Joel Stoltzfus was arrested on Thursday in Ripley County after an investigation by detectives with the the Versailles post of the Indiana State Police. Stoltzfus was arrested on two counts of rape and two counts of incest.
Officials said the investigation into Stoltzfus began in February when suspected criminal activity was reported to the post. The release said that Stoltzfus had reportedly committed rape and incest on at least two occasions in Christian County, Kentucky between 2005 and 2008. Officials said the the victim was a juvenile when the crimes allegedly occurred.
The allegations uncovered by investigators were reportedly different from the original criminal activity reported at the state of the investigation, the release said. Because the crimes reportedly occurred in a different state, detectives with Kentucky State Police submitted the case to Christian County prosecutors for the purpose of filing charges.
