Juvenile shot on northwest side of Indianapolis; 2 suspects apprehended

INDIANAPOLIS — A juvenile was shot on the near northwest side of Indianapolis Sunday night.

According to the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department, officers were dispatched to a gym near the intersection of 38th Street and Moller Road around 6:15 p.m. on a report of a robbery that resulted in a person being shot.

Police later learned the individual who was shot during the incident was a juvenile. The child was taken to Eskenazi Hospital in stable condition.

Around the same time police were responding the gym, dispatchers received a report of shots fired in the area of Rockville Road and Mickley Avenue.

Indiana State Police later spotted a vehicle believed to have been involved in the shooting near Rockville Road and Mickley Avenue. ISP engaged in a chase with the driver of the car because the vehicle had previously been reported stolen.

The pursuit ended near Morris Street and High School Road because the vehicle troopers were chasing crashed. After the crash, two suspects ran away from the area on foot. State police ultimately apprehended two suspects.

IMPD and ISP reported that they are not sure if the shooting that happened near 38th Street and Moller Road is related to the shooting that unfolded by Rockville Road and Mickley Avenue. Detectives are currently working to try to tie the two incidents together because they were provided similar suspect vehicle descriptions at both scenes.

IMPD indicated that the suspect vehicle that was crashed on Morris Street was collected as evidence. Law enforcement recovered two firearms from the car.
