INDIANAPOLIS — A Plainfield man will serve eight years in federal prison after robbing three Indianapolis businesses in under two weeks in 2019.

Larry Gibson, 65, pleaded guilty to three counts of interference with commerce by robbery.

According to court documents, Gibson is believed to have used a toy gun that resembled a real firearm when he robbed three businesses between Aug. 25, 2019, and Sept. 5, 2019.

Gibson's targets were an OfficeMax on E. Washington Street, a CVS on Southeastern Avenue and a Wendy's on Post Road. His total haul from all three robberies was $711.

After being arrested on Sept. 6, 2019, Gibson allegedly admitted to the robberies.

“Every person deserves to feel safe where they live and work. This defendant terrorized and threatened innocent employees and businesses for weeks,’ said Zachary A. Myers, U.S. Attorney for the Southern District of Indiana. “These frightening, senseless crimes have no place in our communities, and we are safer with this man behind federal prison bars."

The FBI and the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department investigated the case.
