GRANT COUNTY, Ind. -- Officials with the Grant County Sheriff's Office are investigating a fatal shooting that reportedly occurred Monday morning.
According to the office, the shooting reportedly occurred in the 5600 block of East 975 South near Fowlerton.
Officials with the Grant County Sheriff's Office said that they were alerted to a possible road rage incident on I-69. A car reportedly exited onto State Road 26 and was followed by a semi-truck.
A reported verbal altercation between the driver of the car and the semi-truck driver occurred. The driver of the car reportedly had a laser pointed at him and officials said that they believed it was a weapon.
The driver of the car then reportedly fired at the semi-truck driver and struck him. Officials said the semi-truck then went into a cornfield and caught on fire. The semi-truck driver was then pronounced dead.
The incident is under investigation, according to officials from the office.
