INDIANAPOLIS -- Your Indianapolis Colts are returning to the gridiron this Sunday for the first time since a tough end to the 2023 season.
Despite the offseason, Lucas Oil Stadium has been busy. The home of the Colts has had tons of dirt in it for Monster Jam, an LED basketball court for the NBA All-Star Weekend and millions of gallons of water for the U.S. Olympic Swim Trials.
Now, the gridiron has returned with a fresh field.
”The fans probably won't notice anything about it," said Steve Campbell, the Colts Vice President of Communications. "It's state-of-the-art, most advanced turf that's out there right now."
Some sharp-eyed fans might notice a change to the font of the "Indianapolis" and "Colts" in both end zones.
”It's kind of been the same font for 50, 60 years that the Indianapolis Colts have been using so we have a little bit of an updated look and feel," Campbell said.
The Colts concessions are going far beyond the classic popcorn and peanuts with options like loaded fries, footlong corn dogs, pulled pork mac and cheese and more added to the menu.
The Colts are also moving one of the biggest pregame traditions – the Anvil is going to be among the fans this year.
”We're moving that down into Lucas Oil Plaza so fans can become a part of that," Campbell said.
Classic pregame fun like Touchdown Town will, of course, be back. Fans FOX59/CBS4 talked to at Colts Training Camp Friday are excited to get back to the atmosphere of home games.
fans are itching to be back in these blue seats.
”It's just really fun. I like being part of the whole crowd," said Bob Gott, a Colts season ticket holder.
Gott and others we talked to have big aspirations for this season.
”I'm hoping Anthony Richardson has a good, healthy season and he can lead us to the Super Bowl," Gott said.
