(WXIN/WTTV) — Hoosiers should get ready for "unseasonably cold" temperatures and wet conditions this fall, at least according to the "Farmers’ Almanac".

The Farmers’ Almanac’s newly released Fall 2024 Extended Weather Forecast shows that the heat we have been experiencing in Indiana this summer is not here to stay.

Overall, the Almanac predicts a "crisp, cool" fall season for the country as a whole. As for the Great Lakes/Midwest region, the group says fall will be frosty and wet.

However, the Almanac says that rain should let up by the end of October.

"Dry weather should arrive in time for Halloween in the Great Lakes/Midwest/Ohio Valley region," writers said.

Meanwhile, the "Old Farmer's Almanac" agrees - predicting below-average temperatures for Indiana this fall. Furthermore, the Old Almanac's "Ohio Valley region" - which includes Indiana - is predicted to have above-average rainfall during the upcoming season.

As for growing crops, this fall in the Hoosier state, the Old Farmer's Almanac predicts that the first fall frost date in Indiana this year will be on Oct. 16. Additionally, they predict the growing season will last 172 days.
