INDIANAPOLIS -- An Indianapolis man has been charged after he reportedly pointed a gun at a driver delivering a pizza to his home on the south side of Indianapolis earlier this month.

According to court documents, filed on Monday in Marion County, 36-year-old Larry Mauer III was charged with one count of pointing a firearm, a Level 6 felony. This is in relation to an early morning incident at a home in the 3300 block of Carson Avenue on July 24.

At around 12:19 a.m. on July 24, officers were called to a gas station near the intersection of Shelby St. and Albany St. on a call of a robbery. When officers arrived at the scene, a woman said she was delivering food to a home on Carson Avenue.

The woman said when she was delivering a pizza, a man, later identified as Mauer, reportedly was "irate at the lack of change she had," telling her that he only had $20 bills on him and wanted change. The documents said that Mauer reportedly pulled a firearm from behind his back and pointed it at the driver and her child, who was in the passenger seat.

"(The woman) stated that as he pulled the firearm out, she feared for her life and the life of her child and drove to the... gas station... to contact police," the documents said.

Officers then arrived at the home where the alleged incident took place. The documents said that officers called out for the occupants inside the house to exit the residence. There were five individuals who exited the residence, including Mauer.

The documents state that the driver identified Mauer as the person who reportedly pointed the gun at her. In an interview with Mauer, he reportedly told officers that he had a disagreement with her over change but denied that he pointed a firearm at her. A firearm was later located inside the home.

According to court documents, officials hosted Mauer's initial hearing on Tuesday. A bail review hearing is scheduled for Friday morning. On Monday, officials set Mauer's bail at $500.

If convicted, the maximum penalty for a Level 6 felony in the state of Indiana is between six months and 2.5 years in prison and up to $10,000 in fines.
