KOKOMO, Ind. — The Kokomo Police Department has fired one of its officers.

According to a press release, Sinmi Asomuyide was terminated for committing "multiple policy violations."

Kokomo Police Chief Douglas Stout indicated that another law enforcement agency made him aware of an investigation involving a KPD probationary officer on July 1. KPD then contacted Indiana State Police to request they investigate the allegations that had been brought against Asomuyide.

ISP's preliminary investigation revealed Asomuyide had committed multiple policy violations. KPD reported that Asomuyide was then terminated based on the policy violations alone.

Asomuyide was arrested by the Indiana State Police on Monday, per KPD. According to the Tipton County Jail, Asomuyide has been preliminarily charged with sexual misconduct with a minor, sexual battery, child seduction and official misconduct.

Police are still looking into Asomuyide's alleged violations. Kokomo police are asking those with information that could assist with the investigation to call (765) 456-7017.

The most serious of the charges Asomuyide faces — sexual misconduct with a minor and sexual battery — are Level 4 Felonies in Indiana. The maximum penalty for a Level 4 Felony in the Hoosier State is a 12-year prison sentence and a fine of up to $10,000.
