INDIANAPOLIS -- Indiana's DNC Delegation formally endorsed Kamala Harris's presidential candidacy after President Biden withdrew from the 2024 election.

The Indiana Democratic Party confirmed Monday night that its 88 delegates voted unanimously to throw their support behind Harris. The delegates were originally pledged to President Joe Biden after he secured the Hoosier state's Democratic Primary in May.

The delegates also passed a resolution honoring President Biden while voting to endorse Harris to replace him on the ballot in four months.

Biden announced Sunday he was dropping out of the general election and ending his reelection campaign. In doing so, he endorsed Vice President Harris, urging her to represent the Democratic party in the general election against Republican candidate Donald Trump.

Harris served as the attorney general of California for six years before she was elected to the US Senate, where she served from 2017 to 2021.

Mike Schmul, the Indiana Democratic Party chair, said the delegates were "proud to endorse" Harris.

“Vice President Kamala Harris has already made history by serving in our nation’s second-highest office," said Schmul. "She is tenacious, skilled, and powerful, and we are proud to endorse her as the next President of the United States so that she can continue the legacy of unprecedented job growth, historically low unemployment, and fighting for reproductive freedom in all 50 states."
