TIPPECANOE COUNTY, Ind. — A man has died after a crash into a ditch in Tippecanoe County, according to the Tippecanoe County Sheriff's Office.
Tippecanoe County Sheriff's Officers were dispatched on Saturday at approximately 3:45 a.m. on a report of a single vehicle crash in the 8600 block of US Highway 52 S. Upon arrival, officers found two individuals in the vehicle, an adult female passenger and an adult male driver.
The female passenger was extricated from the vehicle with non life threatening injuries. The male driver was pronounced dead at the scene.
A preliminary investigation of the scene determined that the vehicle was travelling north on US Highway 52 when the driver entered a ditch. The vehicle continued through the ditch until it struck a culvert, according to the crash reconstruction team. The driver was "unrestricted" and partially ejected from the vehicle. The passenger was "restrained."
The northbound lanes of US 52 were closed for around two hours and the roadway was fully opened around 7 p.m.
