INDIANAPOLIS -- Indianapolis will serve as the center of the men's college basketball universe in 2026.
After previously announcing that the city will host the 2026 Final Four at Lucas Oil Stadium, officials with the NCAA Division I Men's Basketball Committee announced on Thursday that Indianapolis will also host the 2026 Division II and III men's basketball championship, as well as the semifinals and finals of the National Invitation Tournament (NIT) that same weekend.
All five games will be scheduled for April 4-6, 2026 in Indianapolis. Officials said the NIT will play its semifinals on April 2 at Hinkle Fieldhouse on the campus of Butler University. The NIT title game is scheduled for April 5, at a time and venue to be announced. The Division II and III championships will be on April 5 at Gainbridge Fieldhouse.
Officials said this is the second time the NCAA will host its three men's basketball championships on one weekend in the same city, previously accomplishing the feat in Atlanta in 2013.
"This will be a tremendous celebration of men's college basketball across all three divisions in Indy," Dan Gavitt, the NCAA's senior vice president of basketball, said in the release. "When we did this in 2013, we had nearly 8,000 fans watching the Division II and III championship games, and the final two nights of this year's NIT at Hinkle Fieldhouse featured sold-out crowds of more than 9,000 fans. It will be an awesome opportunity for student-athletes at the participating schools, as well as a showcase for the legendary college basketball fans in Indiana."
According to previous reports, the 2026 Final Four will be the ninth time that Indianapolis has hosted the championship weekend. In 2028, Gainbridge Fieldhouse is expected to host the NCAA Women's Final Four.
