Temperatures felt more early June like across Central Indiana on Saturday! Indianapolis didn't quite make it to 80°. But its observed high temperature of 79° was the 18th occurrence since January 1st. This is the highest number of days at/above 70° to date in seven years! Also, April averages nine days of 70°+ and Saturday marked the tenth day. More warmth is in store, too.

Severe weather stays west, stray storm early
Another messy severe weather day is occurring across portions of the United States. This comes after the busy day yesterday with multiple confirmed tornadoes in portions of Nebraska and Western Iowa. The Storm Prediction Center had 106 tornado reports from Friday's severe weather. For today, there are 16 tornado reports as of this writing. The severe threat will stay west as we have high pressure dominating to our south and east.

An isolated storm is possible late Saturday into the overnight. However, coverage will be limited as most spots remain dry. Spots well north and west have a higher potential of seeing a storm this evening. The same can be said for Sunday.

Even warmer Sunday
With increased southerly flow and breezy south-southwest winds, we anticipate most hometowns to get into the lower 80s on Sunday. It will be mostly sunny to partly cloudy feeling more like a typical early summer day! It will be a touch muggier, but not bad with dew points around the 60° mark.
Many spots could approach record territory! The current record for Indianapolis is 86°/1894 and it will be the warmest April 28th in 43 years. Only 9% of April 28ths going back to 1871 had a high of 80° or more. We should remain dry but won't rule out a very stray shower.

Turning active again Monday
The current system bringing severe weather to the Central U.S. will move toward Central Indiana on in a weakening state. Nonetheless, anticipate scattered showers and some storms on Monday. It will be a daytime rain with the highest chances being Monday morning through the evening. Severe weather risk looks low but some isolated downpours, thunder/lightning and gusty winds are possible.
High temperatures will approach the mid-70s but drop a good 8-10° once the rain finishes.

Somewhat active to open May
Tuesday looks to be the dry day in between systems as highs will be mild in the low-to-mid 70s. Rain chances again increase later Wednesday timeframe and be around for the latter portion of the workweek. There will be dry times but thunderstorms are possible each day through Friday. May opens on Wednesday, too! The week will be mild with highs in the 70s to near 80°.
For the most part, Central Indiana is seeing temperatures about a month early.
