FISHERS, Ind. — Officers from the Fishers Police Department arrested a man after he allegedly robbed a restaurant, fled from police and fired a handgun early Sunday morning.
Around 1:30 a.m., FPD officers were called to the Taco Bell on Allisonville Road on a report of a robbery and carjacking. According to FPD, they had received preliminary dispatch information that suggested three men had entered the drive-through window and demanded money with guns drawn. Reportedly, one of the suspects had also stolen a vehicle belonging to a Taco Bell employee. No one was injured in this attempted robbery, police said.

FPD wrote that they located the stolen vehicle southbound on Allisonville Road and conducted a traffic stop. According to a press release, the vehicle's driver and sole occupant, identified as 24-year-old Fredrick Nance, exited the vehicle and fled the scene on foot.

With assistance from a K-9 team, officers chased Nance down. During this pursuit, officers heard a gunshot, per a press release. No officers nor the K-9 were hit by a bullet though, nor was anyone injured.
FPD reported that they were able to catch up to Nance and take him into custody with assistance from a K-9. As stated in the release, Nance had several pieces of evidence belonging to the victims. A Glock with a machine gun conversion device attached to it was also located near the scene, police said.

Fishers police said Nance confessed to robbery, auto theft and firing a shot during an interview. A press release notes that he is being held on 12 preliminary charges:

- Intimidation
- Battery Resulting in Bodily Injury
- Theft
- Auto Theft
- Pointing A Firearm at Another
- Criminal Confinement While Armed with a Deadly Weapon
- Resisting Law Enforcement
- Resisting Law Enforcement Using a Vehicle
- Criminal Recklessness Using a Deadly Weapon
- Kidnapping While Armed with A Deadly Weapon
- Possession Of a Machine Gun
