INDIANAPOLIS — It's official, the WWE is bringing the Showcase of the Immortals to Indianapolis as part of a three-count of the largest shows in the world of pro wrestling heading to the Circle City.
WWE announced on Monday that WWE's three largest stadium events — WrestleMania, SummerSlam and the Royal Rumble — will be held in Indianapolis in the coming years kicking off with the Royal Rumble on Feb. 1, 2025, at Lucas Oil Stadium.
“Indianapolis is a fantastic city for major events and we’re excited to invite the WWE Universe to Lucas Oil Stadium for Royal Rumble in 2025, and a future SummerSlam and WrestleMania,” said Chris Legentil, WWE EVP, Talent Relations & Head of Communications at WWE.
Both WrestleMania and SummerSlam, which both expanded to two-night events in recent years, are scheduled to return to Indianapolis for the first time since 1992 (when Mania was held in the Hoosier Dome) and 2008 (when SummerSlam was held at then Conseco Fieldhouse).
This will be the Royal Rumble's debut in Indianapolis, having never previously been hosted in the Circle City despite the show's 36-year history.
WWE boasted that the three giant wrestling showcases have a combined impact of more than $300 million and bring in hundreds of thousands of people into their host cities. The Royal Rumble and WrestleMania continue to set records for all-time WWE viewership and gate numbers.
“We are excited to bring this groundbreaking partnership to Indianapolis and our state,” said Patrick Talty, president of Indiana Sports Corp. “For over four decades, our city’s sports strategy has brought in millions of visitors and priceless hours of international brand-building media coverage. This partnership with WWE continues to push that strategy forward in new and exciting ways. We look forward to welcoming the WWE Universe to our community and state and showing them all that Indy has to offer.”
